Those Who Seek

A couple of weeks ago I was having a really hard time and I was in my room frustrated, annoyed, and angry at so many things in life. I tried to play some worship music and shift myself past it but I simply just felt stuck where I was in the moment feeling sorry for myself and my situations. I turned the music off and began to cry everything in me was screaming to just roll over and go to sleep away everything that was bothering me.

As I sat on the edge of my bed crying feeling stuck and overwhelmed my eyes looked upon a stack bibles and books I own. I walked over picked up a bible even though I had no idea where I was going to begin reading nor did I care to in that moment. I sat down on the floor with the bible in my lap and flipped it open this is what it landed on:

Proverbs 8:17 (NIV)
love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Instantly after reading I felt comforted and loved. What I really needed in that moment was love but I hadn't been seeking to find love from the ultimate lover, comforter, and provider. I quickly pulled down the next book (Prayers that bring Healing by Apostle John Eckhart) opened it up and this is what it landed on:
Prayers that bring Healing for Anger
On this page is 14 different prayers with scriptures to declare over yourself and rid your life of anger. Once again God was meeting me I just had to seek.  I was able in that moment to move past my feelings as he comforted me and snap back to the truth. I had to act to what the holy spirit was telling me I could have missed the moment and went to sleep. But instead what I received was far greater then any nap could give, that any other person can give.
God can love you more in a moment than any other love can in a lifetime is the song he gave me that day and now I can sing it to remind myself. Life's not always easy but the comforter is there and waiting for you to move past your feelings.
As always in

Small and anointed takes BIG down every time - Pastor Russell Evans

Passionate Pastors: Planetshakers

Yesterday I had the great opportunity to attend Passionate Pastors hosted by Pastor Obed Martinez of Destiny Church in Indio, Ca. and well it was AMAZING! The featured speaker was Pastor Russell Evans of Planetshakers and he brought the Planetshakers worship team with him. I am a huge fan of theirs but I don't think I appropriately prepared myself for the AWESOMENESS that accrued. From the very first moment they stepped on stage they were on a level 10. Worship was powerful but also fun (yeah that's right I said fun) they had this excitability about they that radiated off of the stage. Their passion for worship was so contagious and looking around the room seeing a group of Pastors and their staff members jumping and giving full out praise to the Lord was an inspiring sight to see.

As a worship leader myself anytime I get to experience another group I really try to soak it all in. Those moments that I take to learn from another team are crucial when your still learning and training in your craft. There we so many things about their team that inspired me, things that might seem minute are actually huge in my world. Here's a list of my favorite observations.

  • The vocalist created one sound and blended so well that the only differentiation in vocals was the person leading the song. As a bonus the person leading the song kept it very simple and was in the most basic form giving us the words for the next part of the song.

  • A little something I like to call Excite-2-Buy. Which means that they were so exciting that even if their style of music did not appeal to you it would be extremely hard to resist buying in and joining the experience.

  • The musicians were fully engaged in worship singing along, jumping and worshiping through their instruments. Every single musician was super connected and aware of the flow of worship.

  • Last but certainly one of the most important things is that after they were done with worship they sat in the session and received with everyone else. I have been so many places and have seen as well as experienced on a team were musicians and singers leave the room after worship and do whatever they please till the end of service when they need to be back on stage.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to experience the ministry of Planetshakers and all the wonderful hospitality from Destiny Church. If you are a Pastor or staff member I would make plans to be at the next Passionate Pastors meeting in October. It was truly a day well spent!

Why Not NOW?

If you gotta start somewhere why not here?

If you gotta start sometime why not now?

Don't let anything stop you today. Whatever you have been waiting, hoping, and wishing to just happen, well sorry to be the bearer of bad news it's NOT! So get out there and do what you have to do to make it happen. Sitting around waiting for what you think is "perfect" conditions. All you really have to do is listen and obey and let God take care of the rest. If he said it is possible.
